Our History
It all started WITH…
the Honolulu Pediatric Society. Membership consisted mostly of Kauikeolani Children’s Hospital’s (the old children’s hospital prior to Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children) pediatricians. It started off as a social organization. However, when the residency program was placed on probation in 1955, the society began to advocate for leadership change and an accredited residency program. With the successes in the program and merger of the Children’s Hospital, AAP Hawai’i Chapter was formed in 1966-1967.
