Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) Safety Program for Telemedicine: Improving Antibiotic Use

NORC (National Opinion Research Center) at the University of Chicago is recruiting primary and urgent care practices, including pediatric and family medicine practices to participate in the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) Safety Program for Telemedicine: Improving Antibiotic Use. This is a no-cost program that seeks to promote appropriate antibiotic use while maintaining patient satisfaction and reducing potential side effects in patients seen via telemedicine.

This program, beginning in June 2024, consists of brief educational presentations about best practices to optimize antibiotic prescribing in the telemedicine environment. Educational content will include how to manage, monitor, and treat conditions such as ear pain and common respiratory illnesses seen in pediatric telemedicine patients, and how to communicate effectively with parents and caregivers. Participants will have access to technical assistance, coaching, webinars, and practical tools to implement improvements in their practice. Continuing education units, continuing medical education credits, and ABIM MOC points will be offered at no charge for participants.

(This program is independent from the Hawaii AAP).
